PANAJI: Minister of Environment Nilesh Cabral said on Tuesday that the state government would look for more time from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to complete the coastal zone management plan (CZMP) for the country.
NGT has given time until August 31 to complete the plan.
Cabral said that more than 8,500 suggestions about CZMP had been received from people and authorities had examined the application and did it.
“August 31 is the final date to submit CZMP but we will look for more time to complete the plan,” said Cabral, added that the state faced many difficulties to complete the plan.
He also said that the state government would want to make people’s plans and public plans mean that all suggestions provided by people must be included.
“People help us to make the plan.
This plan is not made in the air,” he said.
Cabral said that the team that examined land reality found it difficult to visit places because of rain, but he had called a review of a review next week to review progress.
He also said that the authorities would strictly apply the ban on the sale of the Plaster of Paris (POP) Ganesh in the state and the action would be taken against anyone who bought a pop idol during Ganesh Chaturthi.
“To buy Ganesh’s pop idol, people will be fined or there will be prison if needed,” said Cabral, added that 98% of the street lights would function before Chaturthi.
The Minister also said that many new transformers were being installed in all countries to provide unbroken electricity to the people, which he said was also the main focus of the minister.
In the issue of mining Cabral said that the minister’s chairman “focused and seriously to restart mining activities in the country”.
