PANAJI: The state government has been submitted before the Bombay High Court in Goa that they have decided not to destroy each structure in the Kala Academy complex, including open auditoriums, but will make structural improvements and even renovations work for preservation and maintenance of the complex.
“We recorded and received a statement made by General Advocacy studied complex the Kala Academy, including an open auditorium in it, would not be destroyed but only repaired or renovated to preserve and maintain the same thing.
Based on it, we dispose of litigation of public interest in Suo This motion, “said your justice bench Sonak and Ms Jawalkar.
The court has taken awareness of TOI reports on July 24, 2019, which states that when the Academy, one of the most iconic Panaji buildings, will see the popular open auditorium destroyed.
Toi has made a reference to a report prepared by Goa Engineering College (GEC), proposing demolition, and states that other reports are eagerly awaited from the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (GSIDC) on the proposed demolition problems.
During hearing, Advocate General Devidas Pangam proposed that the work order for Hospital 39 Crore has been issued for structural improvement and renovation work.
The work order includes waterproofing work, electrical work, HVAC, and external drainage work allied with civil works when the Academy.
Amicus Curiae in the case of V Lawande said that the petition can be discarded as the government proposes to improve and renovate the structure.
In 2019, Director of Arts and Culture, held additional costs as Secretary of the Academy Members, submitted to the High Court which even though the state government did not make the decision to destroy open auditoriums, “other options” will be explored only if the structure recovery is not possible.
