Bhubaneswar: In what could lead to new disputes in the Congress State Unit ahead of the Election of Panchayat, former President of his country, Prasad Harichandan, said a group of leaders in the party had launched a smear campaign against him.
As a sign of protest, Prasad on Thursday said he would not oppose the assembly selection of 2024.
HariChandan faced criticism of his allegiance role in the non-distribution of party tickets among candidates in the Six Zilla Parishad (ZP) zone of the constituency of the Satyabadi Assembly.
Congress has failed to bring up candidates from there this time.
Washing the hands of controversy, HariChandan passed money to the President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), Niranjan Patnaik.
“I did not handle ticket distribution for the selection of Panchayat.
Tickets are always cleaned and distributed by the head of the OPCC.
But some people at our party blame me and spread lies about me, as far as the Zone Zone zone,” Harichandan, a former former Satyabadi Mla, told the media To the people crying in his eyes there on Thursday.
Considered as Dueling Niranjan, Harichandan did not give anyone’s name from the party to level up such allegations against him.
“BJD and BJP are Congress’s political rivals.
Unfortunately, we are busy fighting between ourselves when we have to fight Panchayat elections by staying united,” HariChandan said.
He added that the wrong information spread about him because of the alleged secret agreement with BJD.
“I dare they come out with evidence.
If the accusation of me is proven, I will stay away from politics,” HariChandan said.
Congress leader and former minister further said he was not a trader, who could handle the offer.
