Melbourne: Cricket Australia (CA) on Thursday explained that it would not host the Afghan men’s team next month if women were not allowed to play games under the Taliban rules.
Ca’s statement came a day after the Taliban Cultural Commission, Ahmadullah Wasiq, was quoted as saying that there was no need for women to play cricket.
“Driving the growth of women’s cricket globally is very important for Australian cricket.
Our vision for cricket is that it is sports for all and we support the game firmly for women at each level,” said CA.
“If the media recently reported that women’s cricket would not be supported in Afghanistan proven, Cricket Australia would not have an alternative but did not host Afghanistan for the proposed test match because it was played in Hobart.” “We thank the Australian government and Tasmania for their support for this important problem,” he added.
One-time test between Australia and Afghanistan is scheduled to begin on November 27 at Hobart.
The Australian Cricketers Association (ACA) also supports the attitude of CA.
“What happens now in Afghanistan is a human rights problem that exceeds the cricket game.” And while we want to see players like Rashid Khan playing against Australia, holding this test match cannot be considered if it’s the same opportunity to play.
The game was rejected for Roya Samim and his team-mate, “he said.
Sports Minister Richard Colbeck has called for the international cricket council intervention on this issue.” Not including women from sports at any level it is not acceptable, “Colbeck said in a statement.” We urge international sports authorities, including the International Cricket Council, to survive against this terrible decision.
