Lucknow: Head of Samajwadi Party (SP) Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday announced that he would not allow the Bharatiya Janata (BJP) MLAS or Minister to join SP.
“Let me tell BJP that I will not take BJP MLA, the minister again.
They can deny tickets (to their leaders) if they want,” Yadav said at a press conference here.
The statement of the former main minister came after many BJP MLA and ministers including Swami Prasad Maurya, a leading leader of the OBC community, came out of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Sitting BJP Mlaas Bhagwati Sagar, Vinay Shakya, Roshan Lal Verma, Mukesh Verma and Brajesh Kumar Prajapati have also joined SP.
The Sawajwadi Party has sewed the coalition of small parties for the Assembly poll and has emerged as the main rival to challenge BJP in the state.
The selection of the Uttar Pradesh Council will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7.
Polls in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7.
Vote counting will take place March 10.
