Aizawl: Former Head of Mizoram Lal Thanhawla said he would not continue as President of the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) after his terms currently ended next year and will not oppose the Selection of the State Assembly in 2023.
Ocogenarian Congress leader and five times, who have become The state PCC head since 1973, said he would release his party’s posts and submit his resignation to AICC leadership in Delhi.
“I will arrange a resignation in such a way that it must be accepted,” the 83-year-old Veteran Congress leader to the media of people in Aizawl.
He said there were still more young leaders than him to lead the grand old party in this small northeastern state and that he would not submit a nomination in the upcoming general election to the legislature of the country of 40-member caused by the last part of 2023.
Head PCC Mizoram has never been appointed by AICC in the past and the state PCC has managed its own affairs, he said, adding that the PCC tradition has become an organization’s election.
His statement alluded to the fact that the Vice President of PCC State and former Minister of Lalsawab would not traditionally take the top leadership coat as he was (Lal Thanhawla) resigned.
The leader of the Congress became Mizoram’s first minister when his party defeated the Government of the People’s Conference Party led by the Head of Minister of Justice then Brig.
