Noida: Protest is not a new thing for Sukhbir Khalifa, a 52-year-old farmer who has led the demonstration sitting outside the Office of the Noida Authority for the last 120 days.
When the protest was called on Friday, the farmer’s family served Prasad to Khalifa to break fast, which he had observed for more than a week.
For the leaders of the farmer, this is a second big victory after his protest against the Decree of the Noida authority to swump the land in sector 123.
In 2018, the authorities had planned to establish landfill in Sector 123 after the National Greek Court (NGT) directed it to stop the disposal of waste on the site in the site 54.
Some population bodies have begun protest against decisions and Khalifa is at the forefront.
Authority must finally retreat.
This time, Khalifa remained on a hunger strike for 12 days.
He was suggested hospitalized last week, but chose to stay on the protest site.
However, on Tuesday morning, he was forced by the police and his own supporters to be accepted at the District Hospital.
“He was given a liquid at a place of protest for two days.
But when we realized that his health deteriorated, we decided to take him to the hospital,” said Sudhir Chauhan, one of the demonstrators.
The former Armyman who taught wrestling to Jawan, Khalifa initially gave the local youth and his community to sell Gutkha and liquor along the main road around Sarfabad Village.
“He started a academy where the local youth came to wrestle,” said Subodh Pehalwan, one of the wrestlers.
He added that for the past five-six years, Khalifa even began a movement against Mahar.
“Those who bring marriage are publicly humiliated,” he said.
Khalifa who looked weak told toi, he would return to continue protests if the authority returned to promising.
“This time, they have approved demands.
But if they are not approved in the board meeting as promised, we are just a call,” Khalifa said.
