LONDON: Wimbledon will have a capacity crowd from a single quarter-final and so on due to covid-19 restrictions on the relaxed presence, the All England Club announces on Sunday.
The presence has been limited to 50% since the beginning of the tournament last Monday even though the final next weekend will rise to 100% in a 15,000-capacity central court.
After a successful opening week, the championship has now been given permission to operate at the full capacity of women’s quarter-finals on Tuesday and so on at the Central Court and No.1.
Wimbledon is being used as a pilot for a safe crowd return as part of a government event research program.
This will mark the first time the outdoor stadium will be full capacity at a sporting event in the UK since the Pandemic Covid-19 closed the sports in the country in March 2020.
