West Hindions champions believe that they can rise back from two consecutive 12 super defeat when they clash against Bangladesh in the Twenty20 World Cup match which must be won in Sharjah, said Batsman Nicholas Moran on Thursday.
The two-time champion, who won the trophy in the shortest format of the game in 2012 and 2016 when the last edition of the tournament was held, suffered severe defeat by Britain and South Africa in their first two matches in the One Group.
They found themselves at the bottom of the group, who also had a team like Sri Lanka and Australia, and with only two teams to advance to the semi-finals, another defeat would definitely rule them from the dispute.
The opponent of West Indies on Friday was also in the same situation with Bangladesh down to Sri Lanka and England in their Super 12 match so far.
“I really thought it was a good opportunity for us to get back up,” Moran told reporters.
“It’s just a cricket game.
Anyone can win.
But …
this is a do-or-die game for us.
And we believe that we will succeed tomorrow.” West Indies, full of power-hitters, have been disappointed by the dough in their second matches in Dubai with a team bundled for 55 against England and managing sub-par 143 for eight against South Africa.
Shorter Sharjah boundaries can be a welcome assistance for them on Friday.
“We are not sure how Sharjah will play tomorrow.
But our focus is not at small, honest,” he said, adding that the team’s binder has no intention in the first two matches.
“We just want to execute our expertise.
And so we can do that, the results can take care of themselves.” If you can accept that we are not good in the first two matches, I think as a BATSMEN, as a team, we have received that we did not come to the party.
And we look forward to moving forward and hopefully we can do much better.
