Nagpur: The Maharashtra legislative winter assembly session is at least suspended until January due to various factors.
This will be the first session in the city in almost two years because it was canceled last year due to Covid-19 pandemic.
According to sources from the legislature, the upcoming election for six MLC seats in this country is one reason why the code of ethics has been enforced and will remain until December 16.
Another reason was the time taken by the Chairman of the Minister of Uddhav Thackeray to recover from his neck injury after the recent operation.
“We have discussed the issue in our cabinet meeting and it was decided to delay the session because many factors.
Previously, the date was proposed in the third or fourth week of December, but after realizing that those who clashed with the holiday season were decided to delay until next month.
However, the committee Business Advisers (BAC) will make a last call in this case during the meeting immediately, “Guardian Minister Nitin Raut told toi.
Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil said that the winter session will only be held in Nagpur, but it will not begin on December 7 as proposed before.
“Since, CM is recovering and will take time, it is decided in the cabinet to delay the session.
BAC will be notified of this development and will take the final decision about the new date,” he told TII.
Previously, this session was scheduled in the city from 7 to 17 December and the main Secretary of the Legislative Legislative Rajendra Bhagwat also held a meeting with high-ranking officials including Divisional Commissioner Prajaka Lavangare Varma, Collector R Vimala and others last month for preparation.
