Wipro Awards Two DK Schools for Sustainability

Mangaluru: Two schools from Dakshina Kannada (DK), including Kannada Middle School, have been chosen for WIPRO Earthian 2020 annual award.
This award is given under the Wipro World Sustainability Development Project.
One of the schools is DK Kannada Zilla Panchayat School, Moodambailu, Bantwal Taluk.
This project is waste management, and team members are Akash, Karthik, Prithham, Pranam, Adhitya and Nitesh.
Shruthi N and Aravinda Kudla, Principal, guiding students.
The other chosen school is St Joseph’s PU College Bajpe.
Team members are Alisha P Rodrigues, Cleesha Pearl P, Gynnis Asuntha, Lisa Pinto and Princita Jeeval d’Souza.
They were guided by Teacher Rosina Florence D’Souza.
60 Schools from Dakshina District Kannada have sent their entries for competition.
In the 2020 competition, there were 20 winning entries, and 17 selected entries from the school, and eight winner entries from Colleges.Aravinda Kudla, Principal of Moodambailu, said that among DK schools, they were chosen for their appreciation, for their best sustainability, for their best sustainability practice.
Three topics are given for water management awards, sewage management and biodiversity.
“We chose the management of waste and won awards among 20 schools throughout the country.
As part of the award, Wipro will give us Rs 50,000 and the benefits that have not been announced,” said Aravinda.
The school has provided a degree, ‘Namma Kasa Namma sharpened, Swachatege Haku Mane,’ for waste management projects.
Students have prepared loyalty using old Saris, guide pen and flower pots from used pen, eco-brick from plastic, bio-enzyme preparation and many others.
OROSINA, a teacher at St Joseph’s PU College Bajpe, said that their school had two.
The team participated in the event.
One team has now been selected.
“We have chosen the management of waste as our topic.
Activities are carried out between September and November,” he said.
“Schools presented two projects in the management and sustainability of waste, and both won at the state level.
Only one can reach the final.
Many activities are involved in enlightening the community about the issue.
Waste management and sustainability are universal issues, which are important for everyone .
Involved in these projects, students are happy that the people around them have changed the mind for a better tomorrow, “Rosina added.
