Panaji: Goa reported 3,728 fresh Covid-19 infections on Thursday which was the fastest and largest single increase in cases since the third wave began on December 28.
The case of the case of the case saw a leap from 31.85% on Wednesday to 39.41% only one day.
The highest increase in single-day country in case was 4,195 on May 7, 2021, at the top of the second wave.
With four deaths, Covid victims rose to 3,543.
Inpatient has increased since last week with 43 patients recognized during the day 12 discarded.
About six super-special GMC blocks have been occupied with Covid patients.
Experts say Goa can continue to see increases in cases for several more days and peaks can be achieved in a week.
Expert Committee member Dr.
Shekhar Salkar said, “Considering high infectivity of the Omicron variant, in the next eight days, maybe on January 20, we can see 10,000 to 15,000 new cases a day.” The state active case increased to 16,887 on Thursday, while the recovery rate fell to 89.83% even as a recovery of 971 reported for the last 24 hours.
On Thursday, 4,909 people were vaccinated, including 1,440 who received their third dose of caution and 1,050 children who received their first dose.
