NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: A district-wise break-up of vaccination figures shows that GB Nagar has vaccinated 102% of its first dose in the 45-59 age group as well as 25% of the second dose in the same category, the highest in UP.
The data is based on the 2011 census.
While GB Nagar gave jabs to 4.5 lakh recipients in the 45 plus age group for both first and second dose against the census population record of 3.5 lakh, it covered 127% of the population in the category.
District magistrate Suhas LY said, “This is a great achievement and a result of the hard work of the district health department and its team.
We are focused on the three-T formula of test, track and treat pattern to check the spread of Covid-19 in the district.” Officials said that according to current estimates, GB Nagar’s population is 26 lakh and the number will be around 45 lakh if the floating population is added.
“The ranking is, however, based on the 2011 census data which pegs the district’s population at 16 lakh.
Of the total, about 3.4 lakh people fall in the 45 plus age category,” said Shailendra Bahadur Singh, district social welfare officer (DSWO).
Similarly, Baghpat ranked second with 78% first dose and 10% second dose recipients in the 45 plus age group.
This is followed by Meerut at the third place with 63% first dose and 10% second dose recipients.
Ghaziabad ranked fourth in the state in terms of vaccination coverage under 45 pulse age categories.
As per data released by the state government out of 7.2 lakh targeted population, 3.8 lakh have received the first dose and 91,020 people have been administered the second dose.
A health department official said that under the same group, 53% people have been administered the first and 13% have got the second dose against the state average of 35% and 6% respectively.
“We have ramped up vaccinations in the districts and daily vaccination targets have been revised under all age groups.
We hope that by the end of next month, our vaccination percentage under all age groups will improve,” added the official.
