New Delhi: The first batch of electronic voting machines, which will be used in city polls in the capital, has reached Delhi and will go through the first technical examination level.
Of the 60,000 EVMs that will be used in polls, 30,000 have reached Delhi, while the rest tend to arrive this weekend.
Officials said the process of preparing machines for selection had begun.
The election of three civil bodies – Municipal North Delhi corporations, South Delhi City corporation and the East Delhi Municipal Corporation – is likely to be held in the third week of April.
Because the State Election Commission can notify the early election of March, officials say preparation for their smooth behavior has begun at all levels.
According to officials, EVM producer engineers – Electronics Corporation of India Limited – have started inspections at the Office of the State Election Commission and Chief Electoral Officer in the presence of political party representatives.
The job, said an official, including the removal of tags, ballots, cleaning the supercerckat on the control unit and engine voting unit and clearing the previous poll data.
The inspection team also performs physical verification to carry cases, control units, sound units, batteries, connecting cables, connectors, and hooks to ensure no damage.
The team also checks whether the buttons are functioning and recording data correctly.
“If there is an error, it’s fixed.
The machine that cannot be repaired is returned,” said an official.
Body officials polls have searched about 30% additional machines to keep them backup.
EVMS, officials said, from eight Bihar districts.
While 30,000 machines that have reached Delhi have come from Patna, Gopalganj, Siwan’s suggestions and districts, the official team has been sent to collect 30,000 sets left of Khagaria, Madhepura, Kimada, Aurangabad, Style, Saupal, Rohas and Saharsa.
