New Delhi: The worst of the dengue fever outbreak in Delhi might end.
The latest data from a leading city hospital, both public and private, shows almost 50% reduction in new cases of mosquito default diseases during the past week.
With falling temperatures, the number tends to reduce further in the coming days.
“Mosquitoes don’t survive in very low temperatures.
It is a big reason for sharp reductions in new cases of dengue,” explained Dr.
Ashutosh Biswas, Professor of Medicine, AIIMS.
He, however, warns of any self satisfaction and says emptying and drying water tanks, containers, coolers and plants regularly and keeping all covered water containers is very important.
At the Lok Hospital of the Delhi Government, the doctor reported seeing 80-90 patients every day in OPD with dengue symptoms for a week ago.
“Now, the number is reduced to less than 40 per day,” said Dr.
Suresh Kumar, medical director.
He added that the demand for the receipt of dengue fever was also reduced.
Private hospitals such as Apollo Indraprastha, Sir Ganga Ram and Max also said there was a significant reduction in the receipt of dengue fever.
“Previously, our drug ward was full of dengue fever patients.
There are 30-40 patients like that claiming at certain times.
Now, we only have eight to nine patients,” said Dr Atul Gogia, a senior consultant, internal treatment, Sir Ganga Ram.
This year, according to city company data, there were 5,277 dengue cases on November 16, the highest incident in the last five years.
The number of deaths confirmed because dengue fever was nine until last week.
Recently, a doctor who worked in Lady Hardinge Medical College surrendered to this disease.
According to health experts, the proportion of dengue patients who reported with severe symptoms this year may be due to the dominance of type II virus strains.
The dengue virus strain is of four types.
Type I causes classical fever, type II causes fever with shock, Dengue III causes fever without shock and dengue iv causing fever without shock or deep surprise.
A doctor at the Institute of Heart and Bilier reported treats seven-eight patients suffering from acute liver failure after dengue contracts.
A doctor Lok Nayak added, “We have patients who suffer serious brain damage because of dengue fever.
He is currently supporting a ventilator.”
