With new RWH rules, not many can catch rain

Only new homes on the 30×40 site that must regulate the rainwater harvest structure
The new rainwater harvesting regulation (RWH), which was ratified in the Legislative Assembly of the Karantaka on Thursday, does not apply to homes that have been built on the 30×40 site.
Only new homes, which will be built after the water supply bill and sewerage (amendment) Bangalore is notified, are expected to install the RWH structure to get a water connection.
This exception tends to leave the lakh house because almost half of the number of Bengaluru houses is built on the 30×40 site.

Officials hold that carrying all the houses on the 30×40 site will attract the opposition because it covers most of the city population.
“The rules do not apply to existing homes.
They have been kept in order to provide RWH facilities calling for additional expenses.
When almost everyone has been struck economically by a pandemic situation, we feel it is not the right time to bring rigorous rules,” said a senior official.
BWSSB.
In addition to bringing new 30×40 houses, the new BWSSB rules also make it mandatory for houses built on sites that are 60×40 or higher to provide facilities to reuse and refill water.
Other components – mentioned in Bill – are installation of multiple piping systems in buildings built on sites above 1,000 square meters.
The bill was submitted by the Minister of Law JC Madhuswamy in the hope that the new rules would reduce dependence on water requirements and ground water Cauvery.
It also proposes to reduce urban flooding and surface water pollution and ground water.
It can also help BWSSB in managing the demand for summer water through groundwater charging.
Until now, all houses built on the site above 60×40 are expected to provide RWH facilities.
Bwssb 50% fine on water bills for non-compliance.
Officials said they had collected more than Rs 2 Crore as a ratigation so far.
All houses have a pipe to drain water that falls on the terrace.
These pipes need to be associated with filters.
So we can save 80,000 liters of rainwater per year – John Daniel, RWH Champion
Existing house
Water management experts have the view that new policies should bring the 30×40 site under the ambition.
They mentioned that only houses not covered under the Cauvery BWSSB water distribution network seriously installed the RWH structure while most of the houses located in the Central Business Center (CBD) did not harvest rainwater.
John Daniel, who in business provides rainwater harvesting structures, says the price is only Rs 5,000 to 7,000 Rs to install filters.
“All houses have a pipe to drain water that falls on the terrace.
What needs to be done is connect these pipes to the filter.
By doing this, one can save 80,000 liters of rainwater per year but people don’t realize the importance.
This is because they never Feel a short supply of Cauvery, “he said.
Some, he said, did not install RWH facilities because they did not want to mix rain water with Cauvery water.
“What I know is definitely that even BWSBB mixes rainwater and borewell water with Cauvery water.
All of the GLR they have a RWH structure.
BWSSB also has a borewells to supply water every time there is a lack of water Cauvery,” he said.
