Within 20 months, only 4% of deaths in K’taka are due to covid

Bengaluru: Minister of Health K Sudhakar on Monday told the legislative council that as many as 4.6 people died in Karnataka in the past eight months, while the country recorded almost 9.5 lakh overall death since January 1, 2020.
However, he said, only 37,423 Died of Covid-19 since the beginning of last year’s pandemic.
Data from the main registrant office for birth and death, Karnataka, showed a slight more than five lakh people as a whole died in 2019, while the figure was established at a slightly more than 4.8 lakh in the previous year (2018).
Death in the first eight months of this year has followed these figures.
Responding to the questions submitted by UB Venkatesh from Congress on Covid-19’s death in Karnataka, Sudhakar said that the death of 9.5 lakh was associated with 221 diseases.
“Moreover, we have seen a pattern of 46 critical illnesses that have resulted in the death of the majority of people since 2020,” Minister said.
But the Opposition MLC from Congress and JD is very critical of the government and claiming information provided by the minister far from the truth.
They said the number of deaths from a pandemic seemed to have been far below reported and the numbers did not increase.
“Can anyone believe that only 37,000 people died because Covid in the past year when the total number of deaths recorded more than nine lakh?” Wondering Venkatesh.
“The government tries to report death to avoid payment of RS 1 Lakh compensation to each family of victims who have died of Covid.” Congress demanded an audit of death, while accusing some of those who died in villages and in their own homes had not been taken into account under Covid’s death.
However, Sudhakar said Covid’s death is diligently noted by the Ministry of Health because they must be accounted for in the ICMR portal within 24 hours.
“Other deaths were recorded at 48 hours after the average incident,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sudhakar also told the council that as many as 5.2 doses of Crore Vaccine Covid-19 had been given in Karnataka.
26% fully vaccine in accordance with the questions submitted by Allam Veerabhadrappa from Congress, Sudhakar said: “From the dosage given, 75% of the population has been vaccinated with at least one dose and 26% has been fully vaccinated [second dose].” He said the government was tracking “seasonal flu” which seemed to mainly infect children in the state and said additional tests were being carried out to identify whether there were other viruses that infect people other than the Coronavirus novel.
