Mumbai: With the first WiFi facilities provided at Mumbai Central in 2016, Western Railway (WR) has come a long way in providing WiFi internet facilities at 468 stations, including 90 stations in the Mumbai division.
The Chief of Spokesman WR Sumit Thakur said, “The number of users from these stations using WiFi facilities continues to increase and we plan to install the facility for commuting in more stations.” He further said, “This project has been taken with a mission to reverse the station to the digital inclusion hub.
The responsibility for implementing this extraordinary Indian digital initiative has been entrusted to the Railtel, which provides public wifi under the brand name.

Railtel has so far assigned This facility is at 6,070 stations throughout India.
“Apart from 90 stations in the Division Mumbai, the WiFi network has been strengthened at 72 stations in the Vadodara Division, 98 stations in the Ratlam Division, 88 stations in Ahmedabad Division, 50 stations in the Division of Bhavnagar in the Division of Rajkot.
Thakur added, “As part of Indian digital, WR has introduced technology-oriented passenger applications such as national railroad investigation systems and passenger reservation systems, which have improved passenger travel experience.
And now WiFi is another friendly commuter facility.”
