Gurgaon: A 21-year-old woman worked with a massive vision lost in her eyes and suffered critical burns on her face and other parts of the body after a cousin of the mother, who allegedly followed for several days, stretched acid near Fazilpur Chowk in the Farrukhnagar area Thursday.
At the time of the incident, the woman spoke with her mother on the telephone outside the guest facilities who paid where she lived.
The accusation, Ravinder Singh, who was accused of 25 years old, was arrested by a neighbor and was handed over to the police.
During the initial investigation, Ravinder, who came from Hisar and worked with a private company in Farrukhnagar, told the police that he was married to the woman in a secret ceremony two years ago, a claim he demanded.
In his statement to the police, he said Ravinder pressed him to marry him even though he already had a wife.
“I told him several times not to follow me and that I wasn’t interested, but he kept chasing me,” he thought.
However, in his account to the police, Ravinder said differences, both began to live separately for the past four months.
The woman, who was claimed, had moved from their home, rented rooms at PG accommodation and found a job at the e-commerce company warehouse.
Ravinder told the police that he made several efforts for the past month to contact the woman but he refused to meet or talk to him.
He said he was suspicious he had an affair with another man and, for the past week, he had followed him and maintained a close watch on his activities and movements.
On Thursday, Ravinder came out of the woman again.
He saw him alone when he came out of the PG facility on his cellphone, crawling close to him, catching his hair and threw acid on his face.
The woman shouted and shouted for help.
The neighbors caught the ravinder right when he tried to escape.
Female friends took her to the nearest private hospital, from where she was referred to the SGT Hospital, where she underwent treatment.
A neighbor, who helped arrest the defendant, said he was standing outside his home when he heard the cry of the woman.
“I saw a man trying to escape with a bottle in his hand.
We arrested him and called the police,” he said.
Inspector Devender Singh, Sho, Police Station Farrukhnagar, said a case had been registered against the Ravinder under the IPC 326A section (acid attack).
“The woman sustains serious burns in her eyes, face, neck, hands and stomach,” he added.
A doctor from SGT Hospital said the acid attack had caused maximum damage to the woman’s eyes.
“Eye specialists treat it and have suggested drugs and rest,” said the doctor.
