Greater Noida: A woman from Dadri accused her that she was given a triple talaq by telephone by her husband who married her without telling her.
Nine people, including the husband and mother-in-law had been booked in the case of Imrana (22) married Chand Mohammed, from Bulandshahr, in early May 2019 and on May 14, he returned to his parents’ house after Chand said he wanted to go to Dubai.
Then, he returned from Dubai and allegedly married another woman without telling Imrana.
Imrana’s family member said they had provided Rs 2.5 lakh cash, more than 163 GM of silver and 28 GM of gold, along with other valuables, during the marriage.
According to Imrana, soon after, Mother-in-law Samina, Brother-in-law Liyaqat, Bhora, Abid and Muzammil, and Sisters-in-law Salma, Hina and Nagma began asking RS 5 Lakh and bullet bikes.
“They will say they are lucky with me when other women can bring Rs 20 Lakh at Mahar.
Because your father cannot fulfill our request, we will make you threeq, they told me,” Imrana said in his police complaint.
When he shared this with a chand, he allegedly told him that if he wanted to stay with him, he had to meet their demands.
But then, Imrana and his family know that Chand married another woman.
Chand allegedly gave Triple Talaq to Imrana by telephone on July 11.
The family suspected he remarried with the help of his uncle Ali Mohammed.
The young man and family members were also thought to threaten the Imrana family with terrible consequences.
Nine Defendants have been ordered under the Section of IPC 498 A, 323 and 506, Section 3 and 4 of the Law on Dowry, 1961, and Part 3 and 4 of Muslim women (Protection of Rights to Marriage), 2019.
Dadri Sho Pradeep Tripathi said The action will begin against the defendant.
“The man gave Talaq to the woman two years after their marriage.
We investigated this case,” he said.
At least eight similar cases have been reported in the district since 2019 when Muslim women (protection of rights to marriage), 2019, were ratified downhill the illegal triple talaq.
Every Muslim who gave Triple Talaq to his wife can face prison for three years.
