Ahmedabad: A citizen of a woman, 30, Bungaagar filed a complaint of dowry harassment with police Bubiaagar on Sunday alleged that her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law attacked and harassed him to bring less 250g gold in dowry.
After the incident on November 1, when he was harassed by his mother-in-law, he went to his parents’ house and from there filed a complaint under the IPC 498A section (husband or relative of a woman’s husband who postponed atrocities), 323 (punishment because voluntarily causing pain) and 294 (b) (say obscene words).
The woman stated that she had married the resident of Bungaagar in 2016 and for about two months she was happy at her wedding house.
Immediately after, his in-laws began to abuse and insulted him because he did not carry 500g of gold but only 250g in dowry.
They threatened he had to live and work like a servant unless he brought 250g gold again from his parents, because there were members of other communities who were ready to give 500g of gold at dowry to give hands on marriage.
They forced him to do a rude job and treat him like a waiter, the woman accused.
He said after this he went to his parents, but they convinced him to return and start life again.
But things did not change and their in-laws continued to harass them.
Finally, on November 1, when he worked in the kitchen, his mother-in-law entered the kitchen and harassed him for the sounds of the equipment.
After that, he went to his parents’ house and filed his complaint.
