Bhubaneswar: Police Saheed Nagar on Wednesday arrested a woman based in Kolkata on charges of stealing cash and jewelry worth more than Rs 10 Lakh from the flat of a Puri Jagannath temple servant.
According to the Server complaint, PIU BISWAS (45) has been friends with him on Facebook.
On September 9, the woman had visited her flat in the Bankuala area, under the boundaries of the Saheed Nagar police station in Bhubaneswar, and allegedly escaping with valuables.
The complainant, who refused to be identified, accused the woman to anesthetize its food and made of gold ornaments and around Rs 20,000 in cash.
The waiter has filed a complaint with the police Saheed Nagar on September 15.
During the investigation, the police knew that the woman had introduced itself as an insurance company’s senior executive.
Both of them chat on Facebook and WhatsApp before deciding to date.
He insisted that the complainant bought insurance from him.
The complainant agreed and invited him to his flat.
Even though the waiter remained in Puri, he came to his flat on September 9 to meet the woman, said an officer of the Saheed Nagar police station.
According to complaints, the woman offered her candy.
He lost consciousness as soon as he has candy.
When he woke up, he found the woman lost and her house was robbed.
“We tracked the telephone number and the computer’s IP address he used to create a Facebook account Cash and stolen jewelry around Rs 5 lakh from him, “police officers said.
A few days ago a software engineer in the Saheed Nagar area was tricked by Rs 6.5 lakh by an unknown woman, who had posed as a medical student, on Facebook.
Police Saheed Nagar then arrested Priyanka Priyadarshini Parida from Khurda on September 10 for the crime.
