Budaun: A 21-year-old woman allegedly stabbed to death in Badun district by family members for marrying their wishes, police said on Thursday.
The victim was identified as Archana, a resident of Palia Gujar under the area of the DataGanj police station, they said.
Archana lost from his home on June 28 and married his distant uncle, Devendra, who lived in Bareilly.
Then, in complaints by the Archana family, Devendra and the three brothers were ordered below section 366 (kidnapping) from the Indian criminal code, police said.
On Wednesday night, when the victim came to the Datganj police station with Devendra and one of his brothers to record his statement, he was stabbed to death by his family members, Senior San Sankalp Sharma said.
According to complaints submitted by Devendra, Archana was attacked by four people, including the two brothers.
The incident lasted almost 100 meters from the police station.
On the basis of Devendra’s complaint, a case has been registered and Archana’s brothers have been arrested.
Active efforts to arrest the remaining defendants, Sharma said.
