Shillong: A 40-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly trying to rob a bank in the state capital Meghalaya after being locked up in the building for three days, a senior police officer said.
The woman has deposited cash in the bank on Friday before working hours ended at 2pm, but did not step out and remained inside which intended to carry out a robbery, East Khasi District, additional district supervisor of the Syiem police supervisor.
The district government has announced that Saturday will be a day that does not work while Sunday is a holiday.
The woman was found in the Bishnupur branch of Meghalaya Rural Bank here when the manager stepped into the bank on Monday.
The woman did not tell anyone that she was locked up in the bank, the police said.
Syiem said that the woman had been captured by FIR submitted by the Bank Manager.
Some CCTV cameras and CCTV monitors were found damaged, according to bank officials.
The sign was found in the building that showed an effort to enter into a strong space, officials said.
Police found snacks items such as bloated rice and oral rehydration solutions (ORS) of their ownership.
