Women pose as domestic workers, steal valuables; held

Gurgaon: A woman who poses as a domestic assistance and allegedly robbing valuables from a house in DLF-1 was captured by a branch team of Gurgaon crimes from West Bengal.
The defendant, the police said, was part of a larger gang that both targeted houses in the upper class community in the DLF city region.
According to the police, the defendant would find work in homes and escape with valuables after a few days.
Some gold jewelry items, including eight bracelets, four chains, eight pairs of earrings, eight rings and four pendants, have recovered from the defendant, identified as Laxmi, police said.
Eleven silver coins and three locker keys have also been found.
The woman was arrested after the complaint was delivered by residents of Silver Oak apartment on DLF-1 accused her domestic assistance to steal cash and jewelry worth several lakh earlier this month.
The complainant claimed that domestic assistance was employed a few weeks before theft.
Allegations have successfully avoided sharing their personal details for police verification.
The case in this case is registered at the DLF-1 police station.
ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan said the police had traced Laxmi’s cousin and asked him to join the probe.
“We managed to get another address and detail of the suspect,” said ACP, added that the team was sent to West Bengal who arrested Herrom Sonpur Village on Friday.
