Bengaluru: A 54-year-old prisoner from an old house in Yeshwantpur was arrested on Saturday for charges of killing an 82-year-old inmates last week.
Four Stafs of the Usore Foundation, who runs the house, was also arrested for allegedly destroying evidence.
According to the police, suspicious of the murder had joined the old house a few months ago and was under depression.
The suspect, Kamalama, 82, a resident of Banashankari layout, and another woman was placed in one room at home and did not provide food.
The suspected staff had used such sizes to discipline women, which they found turbulent.
Women are not even permitted to use the toilet.
The suspect allegedly defeated Kamalama to death using a chair, police said.
The owner of the Yogesh Foundation, and his staff of Bhaskar RK, Nohajohn Martin alias John and Manju allegedly destroyed the evidence and placed behind bars.
Police said Kamalama had been treated at the Foundation’s house in Nagarbhavi on March 9, his son Ramachandra GK accused him of paying Rs 10,000 every month to the foundation.
Kamalama shifted to the Yeshwantpur branch in July which was allegedly without her knowledge.
The home staff found Kamalamma killed and tried to cover this problem.
Yogesh called Ramachandra around 5pm on August 7 and said his mother was very important.
Yogesh found his mother suffered a head injury.
The staff told him a woman inmates from home had killed her.
But he suspected staff involvement in the incident.
The autopsy confirmed the Murderrmc Yard police registered a murder case and formed a team led by Arun V Gowda, ACP (Yeshwantpur Subdivision) to solve this case.
The autopsy report confirmed it was murder.
The police arrested the suspect for allegedly killing Kamalama and four others due to destroying evidence to make it look like he had died after falling.
