PALGHAR: A 48-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping a woman who was mentally challenging in a village in the Palghar Maharashtra district, police said.
In accordance with the police, the defendant, a resident of Dapchari Sarar Silatra Kev in Vikramgad, allegedly raped a woman from his village for the past five months.
The problem was revealed when the woman, who turned out to be pregnant, told her mother that the defendant used to attack him sexually and threatened him, said the Manor police house officer.
Based on complaints, the defendant has been ordered based on section 376 (rape) and other relevant provisions of the IPC, he said.
