Women’s IPL will occur at some point: Saba Karim

New Delhi: While shouting for IPL women getting louder, the former head of the cricket of women in BCCI, Saba Karim, feel more important to have a stronger domestic structure including the resumption of multi-red red ball crickets.
Former Indian Wicketkeeper, who took care of the cricket of women as General Manager BCCI – Cricket operations, said the council would eventually set the IPL but a stronger domestic structure was needed to dig more talent such as Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia and Richa Ghosh.
One argument against female IPL staging is that there is not enough players to be chosen at the domestic level.
“For the future, yes, BCCI will see organizing women’s IPL but I also feel that it is more important to have a very strong domestic structure so that it continues to throw younger talents that can play at that level.” And, I mean why IPL men succeed because the type of talent type structure comes from, from the domestic level.
And I think something similar needs to be done for women’s cricket too.
“So there are two three areas where I believe BCCI wants to increase in terms of having more matches, more tournaments, may introduce multi-day domestic tournaments.
It will really help younger talents,” Karim said in virtual interactions organized by Sony Sports.
He also said that it was a good sign that seven Indian players would compete in big bash women after the T20 series in Australia.
The red ball format on women’s cricket has not been played since 2018 but with India continuing the cricket test, Karim feels reasonable to restore multi-day games.
“Well it’s a way to forward it, but it is a big challenge is to find the right type of window.
Just as important for making adequate preparation so that someone can squeeze in a multi-day tournament for women made by the window given.” Someone should not forget that.
The season in India cannot start before September and you must complete in March or April.
So there are certain obstacles, but I’m sure all state bodies can reset, “Karim said.
Talking about the T20 series in Australia which began on Thursday, Karim predicted 2-1 for India.
He also wants Skipper HarmanPreet Kaur to attack the form.” I saw Harman to attack the rich form.
Being a captain, you have a responsibility but someone shouldn’t forget that you are on a pure side as the mixture and then the team expects you to contribute with the show winning match regularly.
So, for me, number one will be Harman.
“We have seen what Smriti and Shafali can do at the top.
I am sure they will put India in a strong position but in the middle Overs and play to the end, you need a Harman experience to come well for India regularly.” Karim also said the Fielding Team remained a concern.
“This is (Fielding is a problem), and it is directly related to the fitness level of the players.
The more they work on fitness I am sure that the change will come and the level of fitness men’s cricket can be replicated, even in a female team.” So there is a large number of jobs What happens on all sides of the country, they have professional support staff now we work hard to build the physical strength of the players and work at the fitness level.
And when they graduate to the national team.
“We will reach there.
Maybe it takes time, but I think the best part is we compete in terms of our skills regulated with all top teams,” he said.
Karim added a smriti can be made in the Indian captain in the future but for now there is no need with Mithali and HarmanPreet responsible for the ODI and T20 format.
Mithali is also a test captain.
