Work to start at Delhi Metro station with room for 3K cars

New Delhi: Work is expected to be started at Delhi Metro under the land of the Prophet Karim Interchange Station, which will only be the second of its kind in the city to become an integrated station with multilevel car parking facilities on the ground to accommodate more than 3,000 cars.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which together developed fully automatic facilities with North Delhi Municipal Corporation, has provided tenders for projects and construction it would likely be started soon, said source.
The job was part of the tender that floated by DMRC to design and build tunnels, underground roads, and six underground stations – Derawal Nagar, Ghanta Ghar, Pulbangash, aware of the prophet bazaar Karim, and Ramakrishna Ashram Marg.
The underground part is part of Janakpuri West who will come to RK Ashram Corridor, part of the DMRC Phase IV project and the extension of the Magenta line (Botanical Garden-Janakpuri West).
The Interchange Station of the Prophet Karim will see Janakpuri under the construction of the West-RK Ashram Marg Corridor and Inderlok-Indraprastha corridor, which has not received a central nod, crossing each other.
Parking space will also help residents and traders in the area.
In June last year, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) paved the way for facilities by agreeing to changes in land use from a plot of 6.4 hectares for parking lots to meet the ‘acute request parking in the area’ of housing (rebuilding) to transportation (parking facilities multi-storey cars).
Memorandum understanding of the Prophet Karim project was signed last year between the DMRC and the North Corporation in August 2020.
The metro station will appear with four underground levels, and on the surface, the building will have nine floors, including six floors, including six floors, including six.
Car parking facilities and a three-story commercial complex.
The total land area will be around 25,000 square meters.
The DMRC will build an integrated substructure for northern stations and corporations will build superstructures for parking and commercial facilities through concession holders.
North corporation, which has land, previously had a plan for multilevel-cum-commercial parking facilities.
After a series of meetings, DMRC and the Civic body combine the project as an integrated complex.
