Hyderabad: For many people who have tried to Afghanistan from Telangana to work in NATO security camps, the US withdrawal plan sealed their fate even before the Taliban took control.
It is a quick end of their dreams to give a better life for families at home.
Ganesh Biragouni Goud, a specialist locksmith, returned from Afghanistan on July 16 after serving in NATO camps for 10 years.
Previously he worked in Iraq for US forces for five years.
“My dream to provide good education to my children and take care of my family has been destroyed,” said Ganesh from Mamidiaapalli Village at Armoor Mandal from Nizamabad.
In 2011, his leg was broken in a Taliban attack.
“A bomb blasted before I could reach the bunker after the siren was heard,” Remember, adding that he had returned to India after the attack but returned next year.
“We are all employed in security forces, camps in Afghanistan are now in a situation where we cannot take care of our families,” he said.
Every worker is accustomed to producing between $ 500 and $ 1,000 per month, he said.
There are others like Ganesh who have returned in the last few months and the situation is the same.
Most now plan to join hands and hold meetings to bring their fate to government notice.
“I was trained in Dubai for five days before being taken to Afghanistan,” said Sagar Velpur Mandal in the Nizamabad district.
Sagar, who works as a carpenter in camps, estimates that around 600 people from Telangana only work with security forces in Afghanistan and have returned now.
They were all recruited through various contract agents.
Some were evacuated from the US Embassy in Kabul to Qatar after the Taliban takeover had not returned.
“We will wait two or three months for the situation to settle and then take our problems to the government who seek help,” Goudu said.
