Thiruvananthapuram: Pamba-Thrivivedi’s reconstruction suffering from major damage in the 2018 flood was in its final phase, said Minister of Water Resources Rosy Agustinus on Thursday.
The flow of water has been repaired and work on the wall of Gabion to protect the bank and parking lots are in the final stage.
Construction is being completed using the RS 3.86 Crore provided from the Government Plan Fund and Rs 71 Lakh from the Department Plan Fund.
Other damage, like that in Bath Ghat, the system to control the water level etc.
is also being repaired using RS 4 Crore which is approved from Rebuild Kerala Initiative (RKI), the Minister said.
The delay in the reconstruction of bridges is caused by delays to obtain permission from the forest and the department of wildlife and the rainy season, but will be completed at the end of October, the Minister said.
In addition, the reconstruction in Aarantelavu has also been completed using RS 2 Crore provided by the Union Ministry.
August 14 this year will mark the third year since Pamba-Thrivhi was beaten by floods which caused major damage to the region.
The minister said that it was with great efforts that the government could remove sand and lanau which accumulated to restore the flow of PAMBA river water.
