It was planned by Delhi’s development authority, the third circular road promised to travel from the northern end of the capital to Indira Gandhi International Airport and the southern region of a breeze.
Dda submitted the project to the National Highway Authority of India because it felt that NHAI was better prepared to handle such a scale project.
The three ‘package’ of the project fell in Delhi, where the contract was to work two – from NH 1 to Jalan Karala-Kanjhawala and from Jalan Karala-Kanjhawala to Nangloi Najafgarh Road – was awarded last week.
“Bid was invited in December 2019 for three packages.
The award letter for two was released last week,” an official said.

The road almost 80-km will start from NH1 near Narella, Cross NH10 through Rohini and Dwarka, touch Igi and NH8 airports near Rajokri and end up at NH2 near forpur.
While part 49 km between NH1 to NH-8 and then Marg Nelson Mandela will be completed in phase I, the UER will be extended by 11km for the stake in phase II.
The third ring road is part of the three URers proposed in the master plan for Delhi 2021.
The main problem faced by the project is land acquisition, especially in Mundka, Najhawla, and several other places.
Dda also faced large-scale encroachment on the ground through which the road passed.
