New Delhi: Chairman of the Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said “World Class Drainage System” will be developed throughout the national capital.
He said the drainage system as it was in Minto Road would be replicated throughout Delhi and the water channel and the sewer would be quoted regularly.
The minister’s chairman made an announcement after taking part in a review meeting on the city drainage system with officials from the Department of Public Works (PWD), the Civic Agency, Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and Irrigation and Flood Control (I & FC).
The meeting was led by Lieutenant Governor of Anil Baijaal.
“Considering Monsoon, meeting review with PWD, MCD, DJB, I & FC under the leadership of the Lieutenant Governor conducted on the Delhi drainage system.” The Minto road type system will be developed at other dots (vulnerable) in Delhi.
Cleaning drainage and ditches regularly will be ascertained.
We will develop a world-class drainage system in Delhi, “Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi after the meeting.
Minto Road Rail under the bridge is the most vulnerable point of the city for waterlogging.
This underpass is an important connection between the upper class area and the advantages of other parts of the upper class.
Delhi Center is like a new Delhi train station, Ramlila Ground etc.
In July 2020, a 56-year-old man allegedly died of drowning when the mini truck was immersed in water under the Minto Bridge in Central Delhi.
However, unlike last year, this year So far, there is no waterlogging reported from the bottom of the Minto Bridge.
PWD officials said that almost nine pumps had been installed to spend water from Minto Bridge in addition to preparing sound alarms and CCTV cameras for the swifters of real-time actions and monitoring.
“The Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a review meeting With the PWD Department, MCD, DJB, I & FC on the Delhi drainage system.
Complex discussions are carried out on better water disposal problems during the rainy season in Delhi.
“The drainage system as in Minto Road will be replicated in Delhi.
Water channels and sewers will be perforated regularly.
World-class drainage systems will be developed in Delhi,” the office of the Ministers of the Minister Tweeted after the meeting.
Later that day, the government released a statement where the PWD Minister Satyendar Jain requested that the institution be fully prepared and alert all the time to combat any problems.
“In the next three days we will have excessive rainfall, so we must be fully prepared to handle the situation.
We not only have to be vigilant during the day but extra warnings at night.
We have more than 1,500 sets of pumps.
We have to mobilize everything.
“” Officers and our engineers in all departments need to be available and warn 24×7 because the next few days will need more attention, “he added.
PWD officials said there was no sound of water under the path of Minto so far because of the complicated settings made there to avoid accumulated water.
“Nearly nine pumps have been installed to water water from the Minto Bridge.
The sound alarm along with eye patches and CCTVs have also been arranged near the Minto Bridge for fast action and real-time monitoring,” said a senior PWD official.
The official said that in addition to improving monitoring, case-specific solutions were also adopted in the case of Minto Bridge Waterlogging.
“Usually storm water from the Minto bridge is used to be mixed with the DJB gutter line on DDU Marg, which is used to cause flip flow of water.” To prevent this, we made a new drain along Minto road so that storm water didn’t do it.
Don’t join the DJB ditch on DDU Marg.
Now there is no puddle under the Minto Bridge, “the official said that the government statement, CM said the previous people would declare the onset of the monsoon after the round on the Minto bridge but this time Monsoon was not flooded.” We have the capacity to curb Water logging and if the department works together, we can handle it.
If the solution for all the vulnerable points is planned and done such as the Minto Bridge, then we can bring Delhi’s freedom from the logging of water, “said the Kejriwal statement said.
He said there were many places in Delhi where DJB drain and MCD convergent and there was no coordination between them .
“I want to suggest that PWD acts as a nodal authority and do exercises to redesign the Delhi drainage system.
If a very good design already exists and all agencies can work together on it, then we can apply it.
“After such a system exists, we only need to eliminate once a year and the drainage system will be free from accountability,” Kejriwal said in the statement.
According to the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), Southwest Monsun has reached the capital on July 13, 16 days behind the date of onset.
