NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old planet interschool rope jumping silver medallist was detained in connection with a shooting event in west Delhi’s Mohan Garden place, authorities said Monday.
The accused was recognized as Pankaj, a resident of Mohan Garden, he stated.
He also won the silver medal in the 2019 planet interschool rope jumping tournament in Dubai, authorities said, which he got into offense because of a terrible business.
Approximately 10 pm May 5, authorities obtained information about a shooting incident in a home in Bhagwati Garden Extension by 2 bike-borne men, ” a senior police officer stated.
A case under applicable sections was enrolled on the announcement of home proprietor Beena, also assailants were identified since Pankaj and Rahul Tiwari, ” the officer stated.
“On June 8, police obtained a tip-off and also nabbed Pankaj in Poswal Chowk, Mohan Garden.
A country-made pistol with 2 live rounds were recovered from his possession,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Santosh Kumar Meena stated.
The bike used in the offense was recovered, authorities said.
Pankaj told the authorities he’s a expert rope skipper, and it has played with multiple national and worldwide championships, winning a number of gold and silver awards, authorities said.
A couple of days before the episode, he had a quarrel with an individual named Nikhil, the DCP said, including Beena’s son Gautam had encouraged Nikhil.
Pankaj supposedly fired in the home to terrorise Gautam, the DCP said.
Efforts have been made to detain another accused individual, authorities added.
