Mumbai: a 71-year-old businessman from Worli and his friend was arrested on Saturday for allegedly taking the help of a fugitive gangster to threaten the builder with whom the entrepreneur had a financial dispute.
Entrepreneurs, Hemant Bankar, and his friend Anand Shetty (48) have taken the help of Gangster Vijay Shetty, said Mumbai police anti-extortion cell officials.
The son of Bankar, Rupin, based in Dubai has been shown as ‘defendant escaped’.
Vijay Shetty, former Gang Chhota Rajan member, along with Gangster who was deported by Santosh Shetty had helped Rajan escape from a hospital in Bangkok after he was shot by Gang Dawood in 2000.
Police Inspector Yogesh Chavan said that Shetty and Bankar were charged.
With extortion and issuing threats was sent in police custody.
According to the police, Builder Kailash Agarwal, who is a complainant in this case, has approached the branch of the crime, alleged that he had received a threat from the Gangster Fugitive Vijay Shetty.
Agarwal and Bankar, who are partners, has several financial disputes in Dubai and Bankar will pay a large amount of agarwal.
Agarwal who has asked for money and Bankar allegedly avoided it.
“In an effort to postpone payments, Bankars took help from his friend, Anand Shetty, who in turn approached Gangster Vijay Shetty,” an officer claimed.
“Vijay Shetty then called Agarwal and threatened him not to harass Bankars and said that the payment would be postponed.
Shetty also said that he would take a payment responsibility.” That’s when Builder approached the police and filed a complaint.
