Amritsar: The leader of the Navjot Singh Sidhu congress, which on Friday expressed concern for the power situation in Punjab, allegedly owed more than Rs 8 Lakh as a delayed bill to the state power utility.
According to the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited website (PSPCL), the electricity costs for RS 8.67,540 songs from the Amritsar house have not been paid, with July 2 as the last date to make a payment.
Sidhu is not available for comments though repeatedly.
As a punjab roll under an unschedulable power outage, Sidhu on Friday was looking for laws to cancel the Power Planning Agreement (PPA) signed during the previous SAD-BJP administration.
Sidhu says no need to go for power cutting or set office timings if the state acts “in the right direction”.
The Punjab government on Thursday has reduced government office timings and ordered reducing the power supply to the industry that consumes high energy as a demand for electricity in the country soared to more than 14,000 MW a day.
