Bhubaneswar: The state government has failed to drop the number of positive Covid cases to around 1,000 every day in July-end, although previously projected to do it on July 15.
On Friday, the country reported 1,558 new Covid cases from 75,868 samples tested, registering 2% TPR.
Two weeks ago, the country reported 2,070 cases with 2.86% of TPR.
Although there is a decrease in the number of cases, experts have reaffirmed that slow falling pace can make viruses more fierce because there will be more mutant strains.
The slow rate of slow decline was observed in Cuttack and Khurda, while cases in the capital were increasing in Bhubaneswar.
There has been an increase of 1,000 cases in the number of active cases even though 72% of people are fully vaccinated and five months of the second wave.
On Friday, the capital reported 389 new cases against 232 recovery.
The active casing rose to 2,311 with the toll reaching 797.
In two days, it has added 742 new infections, so it does not show signs of improvement.
“The number of infections in Bhubaneswar is rising with active cases across 2,000.
This is a big problem.
Unless the tight steps are immediately taken, things might rotate out of control,” said Ajay Parida, Director of the Institute of Life Sciences.
Experts also felt worried that infections were even slower with new case detection in August because the government would announce opening many fully or partially closed facilities.
Daily reporting new infections have also proven that Kanpur’s findings are incorrect because it projects that Odisha will see cases down to around 739 every day on July 15.
The government on Friday confirmed 66 Covid deaths that took a total of 5.834 with a total Khurda Fatalitas hotspot reaching 1,138.
Khurda reported 479 new cases while Cuttack added 241 new infections.
All other districts report cases in two digits.
