Panaji: Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant on Friday said that WRD would be instructed to ask about the incident of landslides reported from Sattari Taluka in recent weeks.
The department will check whether landslides are connected to the recent floods that occur in Goa.
Sawant, marking a vehicle fire and a new emergency service for the Ponda region, said that the aapada partner scheme will be launched in Goa from September.
Under the central government scheme, 400 volunteers from Goa will be trained to help the country machinery during natural disasters, such as the recent flood.
The state will make provisions to provide volunteer Aapada Mitra and Aapada Sakhi with honorarium, Sawant said.
“We have signed an agreement with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
We will choose 400 volunteers from Goa across 12 talukas.
They will receive 15 days training from fire and gipard services.
They will be trained in all services needed under fire services.
This volunteer will work for the next three years under NDMA.
They will only get insurance from NDMA.
But the Goa Government is ready to give them honorariums, “Sawant said.
He appealed to young people in the state to take advantage of this opportunity to practice in emergency services and appear in a good amount for interviews for selection that will be carried out from next month.
“In Goa, we will have 400 volunteers, each of 200 in North Goa and South Goa,” said Director of Fire and Ashok Menon Emergency Services.
