Melbourne: Australian Batsman Steve Smith looking forward to the battle of “physical, mental and emotional” when his team toured continents for eight tests, including four against India, as part of the world test championship.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, only one away test in the first WTC cycle came during ash in England with a tour of South Africa and Bangladesh was canceled after an unprecedented health crisis.
In the next cycle, they are scheduled to play four matches in India, two in Pakistan and two in Sri Lanka, in addition to 10 tests at home.
“I have seen the future tour program and is quite busy, so there are many waiting, clearly including ash and then tours to the continent’s children who, especially in cricket tests, they challenge you physically, mentally and emotionally” Smith tells Cricket.com .au.
“They are a great tour to get involved and really test you as a player.
I certainly look forward to them.
I think (WTC) is a pretty cool concept – to have more relevance in every game you play, I think it’s great.” Obviously very disappointed not (in the WTC final), and for the past few years we talked to our focus from where we wanted to go, but we fell short.
