Guwahati: Minister of Education Assam Ranoj Pegu on Sunday announced back class X, XII and the end of the last year from September 1, although the situation of Covid static in the state for 600-700 cases was detected every day.
Pegu said the SOP to reopen the educational institution will be published this week with detailed guidelines and when it was approved by the Chairman of the Minister of Himanta Buswa Sarma.
“We will start the offline class from September, phase-wise.
First, year-end class like class X, XII, and the final class title will begin,” said Pegu to the media on Sunday.
He said based on the progress of the Covid situation, the rest of the class will begin too.
“SOP is being considered and it will likely be published in the next three days if the main minister gives a nod,” added Pegu.
The government’s sources told TII that from now on, even if Covid cases soar, schools and colleges will close the district.
With online class.
“Some states in this country have started offline classes, although the second wave continues.
The Ministry of Education Assam has made a final decision to start an offline class from September 1 and has been seeking views from the State Health Department as a formality,” said a senior official official of the Ministry of Education .
Assam recorded 640 new Covid cases on Saturday, taking the number of active cases in the stood to 6,877.
The biggest concern even though it has become a Guwahati state capital where more than 100 cases are still detected every day, even like in some districts, the daily number has dropped to a digit.
“Once schools and colleges are reopened, deputy commissioners will be empowered to receive calls at the closing of offline classes in the future.
Unless the level of prisoners in the district surged more than 2 percent, the physical class will continue.
But if there are educational institutions falling under the detention zone , it won’t be allowed to open, “Officially added.
He said in college, all teachers and students, who are usually 18+, must be vaccinated with at least the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine before eligible to join offline classes.
In class XII and below, students will not be vaccinated because most of them are under 18 years old.
But all teachers must get one Jab.
The decision to reopen educational institutions has been welcomed by teacher organizations with secondary standards, although there is little disappointment among elementary school teachers.
Gobinda Kalita, Secretary General of Asom Madhyamik Sikshak Aru Karmachari Sansta, said, “There should be no problem to reopline the offline class now.
Most of the business activities, including transportation began a few weeks ago.
So why limit students to their homes?” At the level Primary, the most worried teacher because lower class students cannot operate online devices.
“Primary schools must be opened earliest because it is impossible to communicate well with students.
At a soft age only because they do not understand technology.
At the middle level, students can at least be able to Work together through online mode, “said Secretary General of the Primary Teacher Association of the US Assam (ASTTA), Ratul Goswami.
