Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday urged political parties around the world to oppose any country involved in “technology blockade”, Alusi of the United States who viewed China as a strategic competitor.
When US President Joe Biden has sought support from the same-minded democracy including the European Union and Japan to coordinate a harder attitude towards China, Beijing has doubled seeking support and affirmation from North Korean countries and Serbia.
“Together, we must oppose all unilateralism actions on behalf of multilateralism, hegemony and political power,” said XI to a representative virtual meeting of 500 parties from 160 countries such as Russia, Zimbabwe, Cuba and Burkina Faso.
“Looking from the corner of ‘my first country’, the narrow and crowded world, and is often full of fierce competition,” XI said in a clear reference to former US President Donald Trump’s “America”.
Xi renewed the call to work towards “building a community with a mutual future for mankind” and said any country involved in “technology blockade” and “decoupling development” must be rejected.
Chinese diplomats often criticize the United States for allegedly trying to inhibit Chinese development by cutting access to US technology.
XI, also the Secretary General of the Chinese Communist Party, spoke at the CPC and the world political party summit, one of the many events held by Beijing to commemorate the Centenary of the Riting Party.
Virtual Meeting Tuesday is intended to help the international community “adjust faster to the rise of China” and for Beijing to get more “understanding, support, and friendship,” said Guo Yezhou, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International, which regulates the event.
China is increasingly worried about its international image, tarnished by anger towards the initial handling of the Covid-19 outbreak, maritime and territorial firmness of neighbors, its clamps in Hong Kong and ethnic minority treatment in Xinjiang, and “Wolf-Warrior”.
“The diplomats were involved in the war of words with critics.
A survey of 17 developed economies released last Wednesday by the US-based Pew Research Center showed that the views on China were widely negative and trust in XI near historic lowest position.
