PATNA: Using cyclone Yaas lashing the coastal regions of Odisha and West Bengal on Wednesday afternoon, the railways has made a decision to suspend the help of 15 particular passenger trains from May 26 to 29. These originate from or pass through channels under the authority of the East Central Railway (ECR). Based on ECR’s main public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar, the Patna-Ernakulam unique (02644) will be frozen on May 27 and 28 whereas the Puri-Jaynagar particular (08419/ 08420) will likely be cancelled on May 27 and 29. “The Patna-Puri (08450), Puri-Delhi (02801), respectively Bhubaneswar-New Delhi (02209), respectively Bhubaneswar-Anand Vihar Terminal (02819), New Delhi-Bhubaneswar (02824), respectively Bhagalpur-Yeswanthpur (02254) along with Tata-Chhapra (08181/08182) specials were cancelled on May 26 while the Danapur-Tata (08183/08184) and Anand Vihar Terminal-Puri (02815/02816) specials were cancelled on May 26 and 27, respectively” that the CPRO stated. According to sources, the Railway Board has put all zones, such as ECR, on high alert. “It is not safe to run trains throughout the cyclone because it might damage the railroad communicating method,” sources said. An emergency management area was installed in the ECR headquarters at Hajipur to maintain a close eye on the effects of the cyclone impacting visitors flow, signalling and track requirement.
