Hyderabad: A 45-year-old woman from Yemen with a history of hearing disorders for 10 years and in a hearing aid for both ears undergoing cochlear implants in the city to restore their hearing.
The doctor said that during the period of time, his hearing deteriorated in such a way that he suffered severe hearing loss and did not find the benefits of using hearing aids, the doctor said, added that the patient only followed the reading of the lips.

Sampurna Ghosh, an ENT & Head-neck surgeon, Medicover Hospital, who suggested a patient to undergo cochlear implant surgery, the woman said implants in one ear.
“After one month of therapy, he was very happy to hear back to normal and could take part in verbal communication,” he added.
Ghosh said that in India, cochlear implants were more common in innate hearing losses for children, but were not too popular in terms of adults.
“Cochlea implants promise when hearing loss is very severe and outside the scope of normal hearing aids.
This is a safe operation also for geriatric populations that suffer from age-related hearing loss,” Ghosh said.
