Yorkshire has suspended coach Andrew Gale as part of an investigation against the tweet he sent in 2010, said the club in a statement on Tuesday.
Yorkshire, who had been shaken by the allegations of institutional racism at the club made by former Azeem Rafiq player, added that Director Cricket Martyn Moxon was absent from work because of “stress-related diseases”.
“We can confirm that Andrew Gale, the first XI Yorkshire coach, is currently suspended waiting for hearing discipline after historic tweet,” Yorkshire said in a statement.
The Jewish News reported that Gale, then Captain Club, sent a tweet containing anti-Semitic Cada.
Gale told Jewish news that he was “really not aware of” from the term offensive properties when he sent a message, which was deleted immediately after posted.
Yorkshire also confirmed that the club had shared a copy of a report that looked into the allegations made by Rafiq with the Department of England for digital, culture, media & sports.
