Young children change the address, steal the parcel in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Cybercrime Police arrested two young men, 19 and 21, which uses a unique modus operandi – make changes to the shipping address and transfer the delivery of goods purchased online.
The police recovered 91 of these items, including 27 cellphones.
Cybercrime officials said they received a tip-off and based on the supervision arrested by Gautam aka Prithvi Barad, 19, a resident of Lathi Road, Amreli and Nilesh Babia, 21, a resident of Keshod in Junagadh.
The police said a case was listed under the IPC 419 section (cheating on the imitation) and part of the IT Law.
During their interrogation, both of them revealed that they were members of various social media groups from where they got a user ID and password for the OTT content provider and e-commerce portal.
From their chat analysis in these groups, the police found that the credentials of some OTT services were distributed to them along with the user ID and online retailer password.
Duo thus can get a user ID and password and will use it to access this account and check the order details.
When they find the pre-paid order, they will change the shipping address and enter the dummy telephone number.
When shipping workers will arrive, both will meet them outside the address and collect items from them.
They have transferred around 1,000 orders from popular online e-commerce websites.
Police Cybercree said that among 91 restored items were 27 cellphones, seven digital watches, two tablets, laptops, and other expensive equipment and even tool kits.
The police also restored clothes, shoes and other items from both.
