Secunderabad: Young children from 18 years and the above age group has led to an example in taking the Covid-19 vaccine in the Cantonment Secunderabad area.
In addition, it is estimated that between 60 and 80 percent of young people have taken both vaccine doses.
According to the official record of the Department of Medical and Health of Telangana, 33,200 young people in the area have received the first dose and both Covid-19 vaccines since April.
According to Deputy Cantonment Deputy Secunderabad District Medical & Health Officer Dr.
H Raj Kumari, awareness of the pandemic and the benefits of vaccines among young people is the main reason that encourages high number of vaccinations.
“Immediately after the Ministry of Health Union opened a vaccination trip to 18 years and above, people have actively ordered their slots through applications and online.
For every 200 people who come to vaccination centers, more than 120 coming from 18 & above the group, “said Dr.
Raj Kumari.
Deputy DMHO said that according to their record, 24,900 from the age group 45-59 years had received their jab while around 19,500 of 60 and the above group had received their dose during a special vaccination drive in the Cantonment.
“The initiative of the cellular vaccine state government also helps manage doses to senior citizens who cannot switch from their homes because of their age or prolonged illness,” he said.
Interestingly, more frontline workers in the Cantonment have received their Covid-19 vaccine rather than health workers.
A total of 3,144 frontline workers have received the first dose and both Covid-19 vaccines compared to 1,837 health workers.
“While the number of health workers (which has been inoculated) is less than other groups, 80 percent has received a vaccine,” said a health department official.
Meanwhile, health staff are conducting tests on those who come for vaccination considering the celebration season.
