New Delhi: Sumit Nagal forgive himself from the Davis Cup tie that will come against Finland, citing hip injuries, but the young tennis player continues to play on the ATP Challenger tour, disappointing the national federation, which will immediately take his problems with him.
Nagal wrote to all Indian Tennis Associations (Aita) on August 28 that due to hip injuries, he would not be able to compete with Finland because playing in a hard court would worsen his injury.
Finland will host India in the Hard Court in the room from September 18.
Aita then replaced Nagal with Saketh Myneni.
However, Nagal has competed in two challenger events since then on clay, Meerbusch (Germany) and Banja Luka (Bosnia & Herzegovina) – which surprised Aita.
Experts say it is impossible to play in a hard court or clay court if a player carries a hip injury.
They say regardless of the surface, players cannot be separated from running impossible if a hip injury occurs.
Before reaching Myneni, Aita also approached Sasi Kumar Mukund to replace Nagal on the national team but he also refused to play because he wanted to defend points in a pro tour.
The lack of commitment to young tennis players for the national team has flooded Aita, who said he would talk with Nagal so the Finnish tie ended.
“To see our player Sumit Nagal playing other tournaments and not playing Davis Cup disappointing.
We definitely want the best players to play for the country, no doubt.
We will definitely take this problem after we return (from Finland),” said Secretary General Aita Anil Dhupar to PTI.
“We want it on the Davis Cup team.
Let’s look at what actions we can take as soon as we come back.
We hope our top players make themselves available (for the national team),” he added.
Rohit Rajpal’s non-playing captain also did not appreciate nagal decisions.
“Obviously every captain will like the best players.
Very disappointing without our best team.
Yuki Bhambri was injured,” Rajpal said.
The 24-year-old Nagal cannot be contacted for his comments and managers not responding to the message.
Somdev Devvarman, who is also part of the Nagal team in the role of the mentor, also does not respond to the message.
However, Mukund gave the reason not to join the Indian team.
“I’m not ranked high as Prajnesh and Ramkumar, so I don’t have the freedom to choose a tournament, so I have two main lottery in America (as) so I need to play it.” I have made this 30 points year and I work very hard to be re-formed and now it will be difficult for me to destroy momentum, “Mukund said.
Talented young players said his Austrian coach also advised him so as not to play the upcoming Davis Cup tie.” My coach (Martin Spottl) said it was better for me to stay on a tour.
Even though it was his decision to send me 15 days to Kolkata to practice on the grass but this time was a difficult call for him to do that, “he said.
Mukund, 24, also said that it would be very difficult for him to get the appropriate visa.” I am ” It won’t be able to be in Europe unless they get a new visa that when I asked the German ambassador, he said it was almost impossible.
So I have to get out of the EU to India or Tunisia or somewhere the coach I can’t come because someone in his family underwent surgery.
“And I’m not ready to release my existing visa for a new short-term visa,” he said.
It can be mentioned that Mukund has made him not available for a tie before the selection committee meeting occurs but Aita reaches him again after nagal pulled out.
