Bhubaneswar: The Youth Congress on Saturday wrote to the Chairperson of the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to postpone the Main Civil Service Main Examination of the 2020 Civil Service considering the increasing Covid-19 case.
Examination will begin on January 20 and continue until January 8 and continue until January 8.
The candidate has asked the Head of Minister of Naveen Patnaik to intervene in this matter.
Smruti Ranjan Lenka, President of the Odisha Unit of the Youth Congress, in the letter said the OPSC should not conduct an examination when the country reported more than 10,000 Covid cases per day.
“Experts say we can reach the top of the third wave at the end of this month or the first week of February.
That means, the country will witness more cases in the coming days.
Holding the main examination during this time is mere ignorance,” he added.
He said the government had closed schools, colleges and universities after Covid cases increased in the state and questioned why interested at this time.
He said some candidates had been tested positive for Covid-19 before the examination.
“Many of them may be infected while attending examinations and it will affect their performance.
Health and healthy mental peace is needed for candidates who appear for the exam,” he added.
Lenka said some candidates living in rural areas would face difficulties finding residences in the city and appeared for tests during Covid pandemics.
