Mandya: A student wearing a hijab was intervened and harassed by young men wearing a turmeric scarf at PES College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mandya, on Tuesday.
UnderesterRed, the girl (in the pic) shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ and hit them for questioning his religious beliefs.
In the video of the incident that had become a viral, the hijab dressed students were seen walking towards the classroom after parking two-wheeled vehicles in the college parking zone, followed where the youth group began to wave the turmeric scarf to him and shouted ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
When he tried to walk in college, the young men followed him and shouted slogans.
He returned to them saying it was inappropriate to behave rudely with a girl.
Immediately, the Principal of Mahadeva J and several lecturers rushed to the place and shuffled it before notifying the police.
The young men left the place when the police arrived.
Mandya SP Yatish n said the incident occurred around 11am but no cases were registered.
He added that the police would ensure the safety of female students.
Then, the girl made a video that identified her as a music, studied the second bcom.
He complained about the care of youthed by youths.
The girl accused that the majority of them were not from college but outsiders.
Meanwhile, a group of other teenagers held a protest in front of the Mandya DC office and demanded a ban on Burkha and Hijab.
They warn that if Muslim girls are allowed to wear headscarves, they will sports green shawls because they come from the agricultural community.
