PATNA: A youth shot his father dead while he was asleep on terrace of their residence at village Mallikpur in ward number four under Raghopur police station area in Vaishali at around 11pm on Tuesday.
Raghopur police station SHO Mukesh Kumar said that the slain person was identified as Salim alias Bhola Khalifa who was aged around 44 years.
He said the accused son is Meraz alias Laliya aged around 22 years.
SHO said that Salim had four sons and Meraz is married.
Kumar said that Salim’s younger son Sameer Kumar had lodged an FIR against his brother for shooting their father dead.
SHO Kumar said that Salim was shot once in the chest resulting in his death at the spot.
“After quizzing, it has surfaced that Salim frequently thrashed his wife and hurled abuses over petty domestic issues which Meraz used to protest,” he said.
SHO Kumar said that till now the only reason behind the murder which had become clear is that Meraz was annoyed with his father behaviour with mother due to which he finally killed him.
“However, further investigations would continue to ascertain these preliminary facts.
None are able to believe that Meraz was of such a mentality that he would kill his father,” he said.
SHO said fortnight back, Salim had thrashed his wife after which mukhiya other people in the village had intervened to calm things down.
“On Tuesday night, Sameer had caught hold of Meraz when he was trying to jump from terrace after shooting Salim.
However, he let him flee after Meraz threatened that he would shoot him too if not allowed to escape,” he said.
Kumar said that Salim’s body was handed over to family after post-mortem and raids were going on to nab Meraz who is presently evading arrest.
SHO said that Salim was a butcher by profession and his sons are involved in trading of goats and sheep.
